Your page is designed, the photos sit just right, the words sound like you? Then the loveliest moment is here: publishing. While you are still designing, your page is visible only to you. It goes online under your own address, for example anna-und-max.unsere-einladung.de, the moment you publish your Save the Date or your invitation. From then on your guests can open it, fall in love with it and reply right away.
Your preview, before anyone else sees a thing
You do not have to buy anything to look at your page. The button „Vorschau" (preview) on the dashboard overview opens your page just as it looks in your draft, full size and with everything in place. Only you can see it while you are logged in; a little note at the bottom reminds you. The forms are there to look at: your guests can reply as usual later, but you will not accidentally sign yourself up while testing. For everyone else the address stays at „Bald verfügbar" (coming soon) until you publish.
What you need first
Your own address: You choose it under Einstellungen → Subdomain (Settings → Subdomain). It is often already reserved for you from when you signed up.
Premium: Designing is completely free, for as long as you like. You only need Premium to publish. You pay once for your term. One year costs 89 € instead of 149 € for a wedding, and 49 € instead of 79 € for a birthday. The introductory discount comes off automatically. No subscription, no hidden costs.
How your page goes live
You can go live from three places, and it works the same way everywhere: in the editor at the top right, under Dashboard → Webseite (Dashboard → Website) and under Einstellungen → Subdomain. Just take the route you are on anyway.
Open the editor and click „Einladung veröffentlichen" (publish invitation) at the top right.
If you have not chosen an address yet, your changes are saved and you land under Einstellungen → Subdomain first.
If you do not have Premium yet, your changes are saved automatically and you land under Einstellungen → Abo (Settings → Subscription). There you choose your term and pay. The checkout is in German and your invoice arrives by email automatically.
After the payment, the confirmation „Zahlung erfolgreich!" (payment successful) greets you in your settings. That does not make your page visible to your guests yet. When the time is right is entirely your decision.
Under Einstellungen → Subdomain, set your address with „Subdomain speichern" (save subdomain) if it is not settled yet. Take your time over it, because once you have published it is locked.
Decide what your guests see first at that address: your Save the Date, or your whole invitation right away. For the Save the Date you click „Save the Date veröffentlichen" under Webseite → Save the Date, and for your invitation „Einladung veröffentlichen". And there it is: your page is live and your link is waiting for its first click. 🎉
Good to know: Buying on its own does not make your page visible. Only once you publish your Save the Date or your invitation can your guests open it at your address. How the Save the Date works is described in the article „Save the Date erstellen und verschicken" (creating and sending your Save the Date).
The comfortable route via Dashboard → Webseite
In the dashboard you will find „Webseite" (website) in the menu on the left. In the tab „Übersicht" (Overview) everything you need for going live sits together: a live preview you can switch between phone and laptop, your address with a copy button, your term and a badge that tells you where you stand. It shows „Einladung live" (invitation live), „Entwurf" (draft), „Änderungen warten" (changes waiting) or „Offline". If your Save the Date is out in front at the moment, it says „Gerade nicht sichtbar" (not visible right now).
The button for going live sits right next to it. Before the first time it says „Einladung veröffentlichen", later „Einladung aktualisieren" (update invitation) as soon as new changes are waiting. Everything works exactly as in the editor, including the little question that pops up when your English version is not up to date yet. Once your page is online, „Seite ansehen" (view page) takes you straight to it, and „Bearbeiten" (edit) opens the editor.
The lovely part: this page also works on your phone, so you can publish while you are out and about. Only the designing itself needs a bigger screen, and for that you will find „Wir schicken dir den Link gern per Mail" (we are happy to email you the link) with the button „Link per Mail schicken".
And just like before, it also works via Einstellungen → Subdomain with „Einladung veröffentlichen". Afterwards you can see at a glance that everything is running: the green badge „Online", your link for sharing and how much longer your page stays online.
Want to change something later?
No problem at all, that is exactly how it should be. You can keep working on your page whenever you like. Your guests see none of it until you click „Einladung veröffentlichen" or „Einladung aktualisieren" again. Only then does the new version go online, together with your design and, if you switched it on, your translations. Your changes are visible to everyone straight away.
Frequently asked questions
The publish button is greyed out. Why?
Then everything you have is already online. There are no new changes waiting. Under Dashboard → Webseite you will also see the sentence „Alles, was du gestaltet hast, ist schon live." (everything you have designed is already live). As soon as you adjust something, the button becomes active again.
I can see my page, but my darling cannot. Why?
You are logged in and looking at your private preview. Everyone else only sees the page after unlocking and publishing. For a quick check, open the link in a private window.
I cancelled the payment. What now?
All good. Your page and all your work stay completely intact. You can start the purchase again in your own time under Einstellungen → Abo.
Can I take my page offline again?
Yes, whenever you like under Einstellungen → Subdomain with „Seite offline nehmen" (take page offline). All your content, guests and replies stay saved. You can even change your address afterwards and publish again later.
Do I have to publish the envelope intro or the password protection as well?
No. Those two live under Dashboard → Webseite in the tabs „Umschlag-Intro" (Envelope intro) and „Einstellungen" (Settings) and are online the moment you save.
What happens after the year?
Your public page then shows „Bald verfügbar" and your draft stays safely where it is. While you are logged in, you yourself still see it as your private preview. If you like, you simply extend and your page is there for everyone again.
