When guests can't open your page

The most common reasons why a guest can't see your link, and what you can do about it in a few minutes.

Written by Max Weber

„Your link doesn't work for me." This message almost always comes down to a small thing that is quickly fixed. Here you will find the typical cases and how to recognise them. It's best to open your link yourself at the same time, ideally on your phone.

„Seite nicht gefunden" (page not found)

The guest sees „Diese Event-Seite existiert nicht oder ist nicht mehr verfügbar." (this event page doesn't exist or is no longer available). Usually there is a typo in the address, or the link was cut off when it was copied. So always grab your link fresh: under Dashboard → Webseite (website) in the „Übersicht" (overview) tab with the copy button, under Einstellungen → Subdomain (Settings → Subdomain) or with the copy button under Einladungen (invitations). The same message also appears if you have changed your address and the guest is still using the old one.

„Bald verfügbar" (coming soon)

If it says „Diese Seite wird gerade vorbereitet und ist bald für euch erreichbar." (this page is being prepared and will be available for you soon), your page technically exists but isn't public. There are three possible reasons for that:

  • You haven't published yet. Buying alone doesn't make your page visible, only your published Save the Date or your published invitation does. In this case, Dashboard → Webseite shows the „Entwurf" (draft) badge.

  • You deliberately took your page offline.

  • Your term has expired. Then you renew in Einstellungen (Settings) in the „Premium freischalten" (unlock Premium) tab, which is what it is called again after the term has ended. Your draft is kept in full.

Important, before you start wondering: You yourself see something different at the same address than your guests do. While you are logged in, we show you your private preview there, with the note „Nur du siehst diese Vorschau" (only you can see this preview) at the bottom. Your guests only see your page once it is unlocked and published. So to test it, it's best to open the link in a private window once, then you see exactly what a guest sees.

My changes are missing

The guest lands on the page but still sees the old time or an old photo. Then your changes are still a draft in the editor. Click „Veröffentlichen" (publish) at the top right once more, and the new version is taken over. It works just as well under Dashboard → Webseite with „Aktualisieren" (update). The „Änderungen warten" (changes waiting) badge there shows you that something is still open. In rare cases it takes up to a minute until really every visitor sees the new version.

It asks for a password

Then your password protection is switched on. Send your guests the password along with the link. You can always find it in plain text under Dashboard → Webseite → „Einstellungen" tab (Dashboard → website → settings tab) in the „Passwortschutz" (password protection) card.

Good to know: If the chat still shows an old preview image or an old title, the page is up to date anyway. Messengers keep this preview card stored for a while. A new chat or a click on the link shows the real version.

Frequently asked questions

My guest can't see their language.
In the editor, check under Stil & Schriften → Sprachen (style and fonts → languages) whether that language is switched on and translated, and publish again afterwards. Without an active version, the address with the language code, such as /en or /hr, simply shows the German page.

Do my guests see a cookie banner?
No. There is no banner on your event page, your guests go straight to the invitation.

Can I remove the note „Erstellt mit Unsere Einladung" at the bottom of the page?
No, this small note is a fixed part of the page. In English it reads „Created with Unsere Einladung".

I can't get to my page myself, but my guests can.
Then it is usually down to your browser's cache. Reload the page once or open it in a private window.
