How your guests experience the envelope

What happens on your live page, how guests skip the animation and how you can test the intro yourself again.

Written by Max Weber

When your opening animation is switched on, an envelope lays itself over everything the first time your page is opened on a phone. It opens up, and your invitation is waiting behind it. On a computer the envelope does not appear; guests there land directly on your page. How it opens depends on the design you chose: sometimes a seal breaks, sometimes a ribbon is untied. Here you can read exactly what your guests see along the way and how to have another look at it yourself.

What happens on your live page

  • Briefly, while loading, it says “Einladung wird vorbereitet …” (Preparing your invitation).

  • Depending on how the intro should open, either the button “Einladung öffnen” (Open invitation) appears, or the hint “Nach oben wischen zum Öffnen” (Swipe up to open).

  • At the top right there is always a small pill saying “Überspringen” (Skip). The Escape key also ends the animation immediately.

  • After that the invitation is visible as normal, with all its sections and the sign-up form.

The envelope only appears once per browser session. Anyone who opens your page again later lands directly on the invitation and does not have to go through the animation every time.

How to test the intro yourself

The quickest way is in your dashboard: under Dashboard → Webseite (Website) you will find the “Umschlag-Intro” (Envelope intro) card, and below every variant there is “Vorschau abspielen” (Play preview). That way you see the movement without opening your page.

To really experience it the way your guests do, here is how:

  1. Publish your page, because the animation only runs for real there.

  2. Open a private window in your browser, often called “Incognito” or “Private window”.

  3. Go to your address in it, so {name}.unsere-einladung.de.

A private window starts a fresh session every time, which is why you see the envelope there again and again. Best try it directly on your phone, because that is the only place your guests will see the envelope.

Good to know: If the envelope does not come up on your second visit, everything is fine. That is on purpose and has nothing to do with your setting. A new private window shows it again. The live preview at the top of Dashboard → Webseite deliberately leaves the intro out too, so that you see your sections right away there.

Thoughtful towards every guest

The animation is considerate without you having to do anything:

  • Anyone who has “reduce motion” set on their device sees a gentle fade to the invitation instead of the spatial animation.

  • If the connection is very slow or the images do not load, the animation is skipped automatically after about three seconds. Your guests then land straight on the invitation and do not miss anything important.

  • On a bilingual page the English texts read “Open invitation”, “Preparing your invitation …” and “Skip”.

Frequently asked questions

My guests say they cannot see an envelope.
First ask which device they are on: on a computer the envelope deliberately does not appear, the intro only exists on the phone. Then check under Dashboard → Webseite in the “Umschlag-Intro” card whether the toggle is on and a variant is selected. This setting takes effect immediately, you do not need to publish anything for it. Your page itself does of course need to be online. And keep in mind: anyone who already had the page open in the same session will not get the envelope a second time.

Older guests are struggling with the scrolling.
Then set “Wie es aufgeht” (How it opens) to “Beim Tippen” (On tap). A tap on “Einladung öffnen” is something absolutely everyone understands.

Does the animation delay people from replying?
No. A click on “Überspringen” (Skip) or the Escape key brings your guests to the invitation right away, and with it to the sign-up form.
