Would you rather be guided than tell your story freely? Then the wizard is exactly right for you. It asks you one thing after another for everything your website needs at the start, and you can always see at the top where you are. Your first draft is ready in a few minutes.
How the wizard works
Above the fields you see your progress as Schritt X von Y (step X of Y) together with the name of the step, on your phone as a small badge like 2/5. A wedding has 5 steps, a birthday 4. The button „Weiter" (next) stays grey until every required field of the step is filled in. With „Zurück" (back) you go one step back at any time, and on step 1 „Methode ändern" (change method) takes you to the choice of setup method.
The steps for a wedding
„Wie heißt ihr?" (what are your names?) Your two first names.
„Wann ist der große Tag?" (when is the big day?) You pick the date on a wheel with day, month and year.
„Wähle dein Design" (choose your design)
„Wähle deine Webadresse" (choose your web address)
„Wählt eure Öffnungs-Animation" (choose your opening animation)
The steps for a birthday
„Wer hat Geburtstag?" (whose birthday is it?) The name, plus the date of birth or the age if you like.
„Wann wird gefeiert?" (when is the party?)
„Welcher Stil passt zu dir?" (which style suits you?)
„Wähle deine Adresse" (choose your address)
If you enter a date of birth, we automatically suggest the Saturday after the next birthday as the party date and work out the age for you, for example „wird 30" (turning 30). You can simply overwrite both.
On the date wheel you can choose anything from today up to five years ahead, and a date about half a year away is preset.
Choosing your design
Every tile shows the name of the design, the font pairing and three color dots. For weddings you can choose Klassisch Elegant, Modern Minimalistisch, Romantisch Rosa, Rustikal Natürlich, Boho Chic and Schlicht & Elegant, for birthdays Bunt & Fröhlich, Elegant, Kindergeburtstag and Meilenstein. You do need to pick a design to move on. It is not a decision for life though: colors, fonts and the whole design can be changed later in the editor whenever you like.
Your web address
We suggest an address based on your names, for example max-und-anna or max-geburtstag. Right beside it, .unsere-einladung.de is fixed. While you type, we tidy up your entry: the umlauts turn into ae, oe and ue, ß turns into ss, and special characters turn into hyphens. A moment later we check availability and show you „Verfügbar" (available) or „Diese Adresse ist bereits vergeben" (this address is already taken) with suggestions you can tap, such as max-und-anna-2027, max-und-anna-hochzeit or anna-und-max. Below that a preview shows you how your website will be reachable later on.
3 to 30 characters are allowed, only lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, and no hyphen at the beginning or the end.
A few addresses are reserved for technical reasons, for example app, www, admin, blog or demo. In that case you see „Diese Adresse ist reserviert" (this address is reserved).
If you check a great many addresses in a row, we ask you to pause briefly: „Zu viele Anfragen. Bitte warte einen Moment." (too many requests, please wait a moment).
Good to know: Your address is only finally assigned at the moment your event is created. Very rarely it is taken by exactly then, and „Diese Subdomain ist leider nicht mehr verfügbar." (sorry, this subdomain is no longer available) appears so that you can pick an alternative. You can change the address later at any time under Einstellungen → Subdomain (settings, subdomain).
Your opening animation
This step only exists for weddings. You decide how your guests open the website on their first visit. All the envelope designs sit next to each other as tiles, plus the tile „Ohne Animation" (no animation), which takes your guests straight to the page. Just tap the one you like, each design opens in its own way. The step is optional. If you choose nothing, your website starts without an animation. You can change that later at any time under Dashboard → Webseite (your website) in the card „Umschlag-Intro" (envelope intro), and without having to publish again.
And then?
If you are not signed in yet, you create your account at the end and confirm your email address. If you are already logged in, you click „Event erstellen" (create event) and land straight in the editor, where your draft is already waiting for you. 🎉
Changing your details later
You find the names, the event date, the age and the deadline for replies under Einstellungen → Allgemein (settings, general) in the card „Allgemeine Einstellungen" (general settings). Do not forget to save with „Änderungen speichern" (save changes).
The web address lives under Einstellungen → Subdomain.
You edit the design, the texts and the images in the editor. You get in through Dashboard → Webseite and „Bearbeiten" (edit).
The opening animation and the password protection are changed directly under Dashboard → Webseite.
Only the event type itself cannot be switched afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
„Weiter" stays grey. What is missing?
A required field in this step is still empty. We need the names, the date, the design and the web address, while the date of birth, the age and the opening animation are optional.
My preferred address is taken. What now?
Tap one of the suggestions below the field or try a variation of your own, for example with the year or with the names in the other order.
An error message appeared while the event was being created.
If you see „Fehler beim Erstellen des Events. Bitte versuche es erneut." (something went wrong creating the event, please try again), simply click the button once more. Everything you entered is kept.
