Design your cover image (Hero)

How to set up the very first screen of your invitation: the cover image, your names, the date and the button that leads to the RSVP form.

Written by Max Weber

The hero is the first thing your guests see when they open your link. A big photo, your names, the date: those two seconds are where all the excitement begins. That is why the hero belongs to every page and cannot be deleted. You will find it in the editor under Abschnitte → Hero (Sections, then Hero).

Adding your names, the date and the place

Open the "Inhalt" accordion (Inhalt means content). This is where you enter everything that should sit right at the top:

  • Obertitel: the small line above your names (Obertitel means top line), for example "Wir heiraten!"

  • Titel: the required field with your names, for example "Max & Julia". Several lines and formatting are possible.

  • Untertitel, Datum, Uhrzeit und Ort: subtitle, date, time and place. The date is a free text field, so you can write "15. Juni 2025" or something more personal.

Choosing a background

In the "Hintergrund" accordion (Hintergrund means background) you choose between Farbe, Bild and Farbverlauf (color, image, gradient). For a photo you pick "Bild" and either upload your own file in the "Hochladen" tab or look for a free image in the "Stockfotos" tab (upload or stock photos). Images may be up to 10 MB and have to be image files.

If your text is hard to read on the photo, switch on "Overlay" and use the slider "Overlay-Stärke" to set how strongly the image is darkened (Overlay-Stärke means overlay strength). With an image background your text turns white automatically, as long as you have not set a color of your own.

Layout and alignment

  • Layout-Typ: "Vollbild" (full screen), "Geteilt (70%)" (split) or "Minimal (50%)"

  • Horizontale Ausrichtung: horizontal alignment, either Links, Zentriert or Rechts (left, centered, right)

  • Vertikale Ausrichtung: vertical alignment, either Oben, Mitte or Unten (top, middle, bottom)

The fine decorative line under your title only appears with centered alignment.

Countdown and RSVP button

Under "Funktionen" (Funktionen means features) you use "Countdown anzeigen" to place a small countdown right inside the cover image and pick the style "Boxen" (boxes), "Inline" or "Minimal". In the hero it counts days, hours and minutes. The same place holds the Scroll-Indikator, the animated arrow that guides your guests further down.

In the "Call-to-Action" accordion you activate the button, change its text ("Zur Anmeldung" by default, which means "to the RSVP form") and choose the button style "Button", "Outline", "Link" or "Mit Pfeil" (with arrow). The button always jumps to the RSVP section on your page. A different target or an external link is not possible here.

Colors in the hero

The hero has its own color fields instead of the shared "Farben" (Colors) accordion: Überschrift, Text, Button-Farbe and Button-Textfarbe (heading, text, button color and button text color). The button text color only shows up with the styles "Button" and "Outline".

Good to know: The countdown needs a real date. Enter it under Einstellungen → Allgemeine Einstellungen → "Datum des Events" (Settings, then General settings, then Date of the event), otherwise it stays empty. Once the day has passed it says "Es ist soweit!", which means the day is here.

New pages start with sample content such as "Schloss Heidelberg" and a sample date. Do replace it before you publish your page. Designing is completely free, by the way. Your cover image only becomes visible to your guests once you have published your page with Premium.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a video as the background?
No. In the hero you have color, image and gradient.

Where is the envelope opening animation?
It is not in the hero and no longer in the editor either. You will find it under Dashboard → Webseite (Dashboard, then Website) in the card "Umschlag-Intro" (envelope intro), with every variant and a preview for each one.

Why is there no delete option for the hero?
The hero is a required section and always stays. You can redesign it completely, though.
