Show your guests where the party is happening

How to add your party location, pull in the address automatically and control the map, the directions button and reviews.

Written by Max Weber

Your guests always ask the same thing first: where do we have to go and how do we get there? The Location section answers that at a glance, with the address, a photo, a map, a directions button and every hint about parking and the dress code. For a birthday you work with a simple list of party venues, without the split into ceremony and reception that weddings have.

Pulling in the address in seconds

  1. In the editor, open Abschnitte → Location (Sections → Location) and expand the Locations area.

  2. Click on “Feier-Location hinzufügen” (Add party location).

  3. Type the name of the venue or the address into the “Adresse suchen” (Search address) field and click the matching suggestion.

  4. The name, street, postcode, city, country and the Google Maps link are filled in automatically. If no image has been set yet, a photo often comes along too.

You can of course enter everything by hand as well, that is what the “Name”, “Straße + Nr.” (Street and number), “PLZ” (Postcode) and “Stadt” (City) fields are for.

Everything else your guests will want to know

  • Uhrzeit (Time): the “Uhrzeit” field for the start and “Ende” for the end. On your page that then reads as “18:00 Uhr bis 23:00 Uhr”.

  • Beschreibung (Description): a few sentences about the venue or about what happens on site

  • Dresscode: appears on the page with the label “Dresscode:”

  • Parkhinweise, ÖPNV und Barrierefreiheit (Parking notes, public transport and accessibility): exactly the details that would otherwise get you WhatsApp questions the night before

  • Bild (Image): upload one or pick from the stock photos, the format is 16:9

Switching the map, directions and reviews on or off

In the Anzeige (Display) area you decide what shows up on the page:

  • “Karte anzeigen” (Show map): embeds Google Maps right in the page

  • “Route-Button” (Directions button): shows the “Route anzeigen” (Show directions) button, which takes your guests straight to navigation

  • “Google-Bewertung anzeigen” (Show Google rating): displays stars and the number of reviews. It is off by default, and it only works for venues you pulled in through the address search.

Several places, for example for the afterparty

With “Weitere Location hinzufügen” (Add another location) you add as many places as you like. The arrow on the right collapses a location, the bin icon in its header deletes it. As soon as you have more than one location, the page shows a small badge with the type “Feier” (Party) on every card.

Good to know: The last remaining location cannot be deleted, the bin icon only appears once there are two places. If you would rather not show a location at all, hide the whole section through the three-dot menu.

Frequently asked questions

I cannot see a map on my phone.
That is on purpose. On small screens the birthday page shows the photo and the directions button, so that the page stays fast and is not torn apart by a big map.

Why can I not rename the badge on the location?
A freely chosen label is not available for birthdays, all places automatically get the type “Feier”. If you want to mark one place out in particular, simply write it into the name or the description.

My page says “Noch keine Locations hinzugefügt” (No locations added yet).
Then no location has been set up yet. Create one through “Feier-Location hinzufügen” and the notice disappears.
