By the time you get to the seating plan at the latest, you want to know who belongs with whom. There are two fields on every guest for that: the Gruppe (group) and the Haushalt (household). You will find both in the dialog when you add or edit a guest in the dashboard under Gäste (Guests).
The groups
The groups are fixed and depend on your event type.
Wedding: Familie Braut (bride's family), Familie Bräutigam (groom's family), Freunde Braut (bride's friends), Freunde Bräutigam (groom's friends), Gemeinsame Freunde (mutual friends), Kollegen (colleagues), Andere (other)
Birthday: Familie (family), Freunde (friends), Gastgeber-Familie (host family), Kollegen (colleagues), Andere (other)
Every new guest starts out with „Gemeinsame Freunde" preselected for a wedding and with „Freunde" for a birthday. You can change the group at any time through „Bearbeiten" (edit). In your guest list the group has its own column and works as a filter and as a sorting criterion, so two clicks bring all of your colleagues together, for example.
Good to know: The dialog shows you exactly the groups that belong to your event type, so no wedding groups when you are planning a birthday. If a guest from earlier days still carries a different group, it stays selectable while you edit that guest, so nothing gets lost.
The household field
The household is a free text field for a shared label, for example „Familie Müller" or „WG Hafenstraße". Enter exactly the same text for everyone in the same family, then you can pull them all up at once through the search field and see immediately who belongs together. The household comes along in the CSV export as its own column too, which is handy for the seating plan and the place cards.
One thing is important to know: the field labels, it does not link. Guests with the same household name are not tied together automatically, they do not get a shared invitation and they still reply one by one. The indented look in your list only appears when a guest enters a plus-one by name in the sign-up form. You can read more about it in the article „Begleitungen und Kinder in der Gästeliste".
Frequently asked questions
Can I create groups of my own?
Not at the moment, the selection is fixed. For finer distinctions, use the household field or the internal notes, you can write whatever you like in both.
Can I assign a group to several guests at once?
Yes. Tick the guests you want in your guest list and choose „Gruppe zuweisen" (assign group) in the bar above. That same bar also lets you select all visible guests in one go. And with the CSV import you can bring the group along right in the „Gruppe" column.
Why are some guests in „Andere" when I never chose that?
There are two possible reasons: with a CSV import, group names that are not recognised end up in „Andere" automatically, and guests who sign up on your page without a personal link are sorted there as well.
