“Can I bring someone?” is one of the questions your guests ask most often. Your guest list already has room for it: you decide for each person who may bring a companion, and the rest happens by itself as soon as they reply.
Allowing a plus one
When you add or edit a guest, you will find the toggle „Plus One erlauben" (allow a plus one) with the note „Gast darf eine Begleitung mitbringen" (this guest may bring a companion). When it is switched on, this guest can enter a companion in the sign-up form on your page. You can flip the toggle at any time later. For guests who came in through a CSV import it always starts out switched off.
What happens when someone names a companion
If a guest enters their companion by name, the app creates a separate entry from it. In your guest list this person sits indented right below their main guest, with the internal note „Begleitung von Vorname Nachname" (companion of first name last name). You can see it on the guest detail page too: on the main guest in the card „Begleitung" (companion), on the companion in the card „Angemeldet mit" (signed up with). These cards let you jump back and forth between the two.
The companion takes over the group and the reply status of the main guest. They have no email address and no invitation code of their own, so they cannot be invited separately. If the name is spelled wrong, you simply correct it through „Bearbeiten" (edit) as usual.
Good to know: If a name suddenly shows up in your list that you never entered yourself, it is almost always a companion from a sign-up. A reason to be happy, not worried.
Children
Children are not created as guests of their own. They reach you with the reply of their guest, as a number and, when your guests fill the names in, by name. You can now see them everywhere you need them: in your guest list every child sits as its own indented row right below its guest, with the label „Kind" (child). Children do not have a page of their own, they belong to the reply of their guest. On the guest detail page they are listed by name beside the companion, and on the page Rückmeldungen (replies) you find them as usual. If a guest did not give any names, you will see „Kind 1", „Kind 2" and so on.
A confirmed companion who was never given a name now gets a row too, labelled „Begleitung" (companion). That way you can see at a glance how many people are really coming together. Children still do not count towards the „Gesamt" (total) tile above the list, instead a small note there tells you how many there are. They do count towards the number of people on Rückmeldungen and in the „Personen" (people) tile under Statistiken (statistics).
Frequently asked questions
Can I group families into one household myself?
Linking them by hand is not possible. You can give all family members the same household name, then the search brings them up together. The indented look only comes from the sign-up form, either from a companion or from children.
If I delete the main guest, what happens to the companion?
They stay in your list as their own entry. If you no longer need them, delete them separately.
Can I add a companion myself?
You can add them as a regular guest, for example with the same household name. They will not appear indented, though.
