Every guest automatically gets a code of their own from us. It makes sure that a yes lands with the right name in your list, so you never have to guess who just signed up.
What the code is
The code is made of eight characters, capital letters and numbers. Characters that are easy to mix up, such as 0 and O or 1 and I, are deliberately left out. It is created automatically the moment you add a guest and cannot be chosen by you. Nobody ever has to type it in by hand, more on that in a moment.
The code is nowhere to be seen in the email, it works quietly in the background. It sits inside your guest's personal link: in the button of the invitation email, preset as „Zur Einladung & Anmeldung“ (to the invitation and sign-up), and in the link you copy under Gäste (guests). Anyone who comes to your page through that link is already recognised when they sign up. Their name, email address and phone number are filled into the sign-up form straight away, so your guest only has to confirm.
How to look at a guest's invitation
Open Einladungen (invitations) and expand the area „Per E-Mail versenden“ (send by email).
Click the eye icon in that guest's row.
In the dialog „E-Mail-Vorschau“ (email preview) you see the invitation exactly as this guest receives it. The code is not printed there for you to read, it sits invisibly inside the button.
Good to know: The eye icon only exists on a computer. On your phone the preview is hidden.
Sending the personal link yourself
You do not have to go the email route to give someone their personal link. In your dashboard go to Gäste (guests), open the three-dot menu on the guest you want and choose „Link kopieren“ (copy link). You can send this link over WhatsApp, by text message or however you like. It works exactly like the button in the email, because your guest's code is part of it. If you look closely you will spot it at the end, as ?code=…. That is also the only place where you get to see it at all.
How it differs from the general link
The link from the area „Per Link teilen“ (share by link) is the general link to your page, with no code at all. Anyone who says yes through it is added to your list as a new guest. That is handy for guests you have not written down yet, but it can lead to duplicate entries if someone is already in your list.
Good to know: Duplicate entries are nothing to worry about. You can merge them in your guest management by deleting the one you do not need and noting the reply with the right guest.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I look up a guest's code?
Only in their personal link. Copy it through Gäste → Link kopieren (Guests → copy link) and you will find it at the end, as ?code=…. We do not show it anywhere else, because nobody has to enter it by hand.
A guest cannot find their email any more.
Just copy their personal link through Gäste → Link kopieren (Guests → copy link), or send the invitation again with „Erinnern“ (remind).
Someone gets the message „Du hast dich bereits angemeldet.“ (you have already signed up)
Then there is already a reply under that name. You note changes to a yes yourself in your guest management.
Does the link work before publishing?
No. The personal link leads to your event page, and that is only reachable once Premium is active and you have published.
