You rarely plan your big day all on your own. With „Gemeinsam planen“ (plan together) you invite a second person to your event, for example your partner, someone from your family or circle of friends, or, for a wedding, your best man or maid of honour. They sign in with their own account, and you both work on the same page, the same guest list and the same invitations. You no longer need to share your login details for that.
In the app, your entry says „verwaltet das Event“ (manages the event), and the other person's says „plant mit“ (is planning with you). Exactly one second person can plan with you.
What the second person can do and what stays with you
What the second person can do: edit the page, publish it and take it offline, manage guests and replies, design the seating plan, send invitations and look after the gallery and the guestbook.
What stays with you: unlocking and renewing, including vouchers and the billing address, the address of your page, deleting the event and deciding who plans with you. Only you can hand the event over, too.
Whether you get an email when your guests reply is something each of you sets for yourself. More on that further down.
How to invite someone
Open Einstellungen → Gemeinsam planen (Settings → plan together).
Under „Jemanden einladen“ (invite someone), enter the person's email address.
Click „Einladung schicken“ (send invitation).
We send them an email with the button „Einladung ansehen“ (view invitation). The invitation is valid for 14 days and only works with exactly this address. So if the person already has an account with us, invite them with the address they sign in with.
Afterwards you will see the „Offene Einladung“ (open invitation) in the same tab, with the address and the date until which it is valid.
Sending again or withdrawing
As long as the invitation is open, you have two buttons:
„Erneut senden“ (send again) sends the email once more, for example if it ended up in the spam folder. The invitation is then valid for another 14 days, and the link from the earlier email no longer works. An invitation goes out three times at most, with at least 10 minutes in between. If you need to wait a moment, it says right below when you can send it again.
„Zurückziehen“ (withdraw) makes the link invalid straight away. Afterwards you can invite someone else.
If an invitation has expired, it says „Abgelaufen am …“ (expired on …). With „Erneut senden“, the person gets a fresh email that is valid for another 14 days.
How the invited person accepts
The „Einladung ansehen“ button in the email opens a page on our site. What it shows depends on whether the person is signed in at that moment:
Signed in with the invited address: One click on „Mitplanen“ (plan along) and they are in. The first time they accept, we may send a confirmation code to that address first. With „Ablehnen“ (decline) they say no.
Signed in with a different address: The page shows which address the invitation was sent to. With „Abmelden und mit dieser Adresse anmelden“ (sign out and sign in with this address) they switch to the right account. The invitation can't be accepted with a different account.
Not signed in: If they already have an account, they choose „Anmelden“ (sign in) and come back to the invitation afterwards. Otherwise they choose „Konto anlegen“ (create account).
A new account only needs a first name, a password with at least 6 characters, one capital letter and one number, and a tick for the terms of use and the privacy policy. The email address is automatically the one the invitation was sent to. After a click on „Konto anlegen und mitplanen“ (create account and plan along), we send a confirmation code to that address, just like with any sign-up. Once the code is entered, off you go. If it doesn't arrive, check the spam folder; „Erneut senden“ (send again) sends a new one. No event of their own is needed for this.
After accepting, they land right in your event and are greeted with „Schön, dass du dabei bist!“ (so glad you're here!). Your bell then shows „… plant jetzt mit“ (… is now planning with you).
If they don't want to plan along, they can say no without signing in, using the „Einladung ablehnen“ (decline invitation) link at the bottom of the page. You then get „Einladung abgelehnt“ (invitation declined) in the bell and can invite someone else.
Good to know: If the page shows „Hier fehlt etwas“ (something is missing here) instead of the invitation, the email program has shortened the link. In that case it's best to open the invitation directly with the button in the email instead of copying the link.
After accepting
Under Meine Events (my events), your event carries the label „Geteilt mit dir“ (shared with you) for the other person and „Ihr plant zu zweit“ (you're planning together) for you. In Einstellungen → Gemeinsam planen you can both see under „Wer plant mit“ (who is planning) who is part of it, each with name and email address.
Anyone who plans along can also create an event of their own at any time and then manages it themselves.
What the person planning with you sees differently
Instead of a purchase button, they see a note with your first name, for example „Freischalten und verlängern kann Anna.“ (Anna can unlock and renew). Notes like this appear wherever unlocking or choosing the address would otherwise be offered, for example when publishing, for the save the date and for the QR codes. In the preview of your page, both of you see „Nur ihr beide seht diese Vorschau.“ (only the two of you can see this preview).
In the bell, they read who takes care of the runtime and the reserved address instead of a prompt to buy. Notes about your payments are shown only to you.
In the settings, the tab is called „Laufzeit“ (term). It shows whether the page is unlocked and until when. There is no billing address and no voucher field there.
Under Einstellungen → Subdomain they can only view the address of your page, and the reservation of the address stays with you as well. They can still publish under this address. If you haven't set an address yet, a note there says that publishing will work once you have.
The card for deleting the event is missing for them.
Ending access or no longer planning along
You click „Zugriff beenden“ (end access) next to the person in Einstellungen → Gemeinsam planen and confirm. If they have the page open, they see the note „Du hast keinen Zugriff mehr auf …“ (you no longer have access to …) right away, otherwise the next time they open it. If they have no event of their own, their overview then shows a card for creating a new event.
The person planning with you clicks „Nicht mehr mitplanen“ (stop planning along) next to their own name there and confirms. Your bell then shows „… plant nicht mehr mit“ (… is no longer planning with you).
Both take effect immediately. You can invite someone again at any time later on.
Handing over the event
If the other person should manage the event from now on, you can hand it over to them. This only works for the person who is already planning with you.
Open Einstellungen → Gemeinsam planen.
Click „Event übergeben“ (hand over event) next to the person.
Read calmly in the dialog what changes, and confirm with „Ja, übergeben“ (yes, hand over).
After that, unlocking, renewing, the address and deleting are with them, and the emails about the term go to them. They get an email from us about it, and the bell shows „… verwaltet jetzt das Event“ (… now manages the event). Your previous invoices stay with you. You keep planning along and can stop at any time. Each of you keeps your own email settings.
Good to know: If the new person renews the term themselves later on, you will no longer see your earlier invoices in the app. You still have your payment receipt by email, and if you need an old invoice, just write to us at [email protected].
Emails and the bell
You share the bell. You both see the same notifications, and whatever one of you marks as read is read for the other one too. New ones are „… plant jetzt mit“ (… is now planning with you), „… plant nicht mehr mit“ (… is no longer planning with you), „Einladung abgelehnt“ (invitation declined) and „… verwaltet jetzt das Event“ (… now manages the event).
Emails work differently: whether you get an email for new replies, new guest photos and new guestbook entries is something you set under Einstellungen → Allgemein (Settings → General) in „E-Mail-Benachrichtigungen“ (email notifications). These switches only apply to you. For the person planning with you, all three are on at the start, and they change them themselves.
The emails about the term, the address and the reservation, as well as the purchase receipts, only go to the person who manages the event.
Working at the same time
You can get going at the same time, for example one of you in the guest list and the other in the editor. If you both work in the editor at the same time, whatever was saved last counts. If the other person has just saved, a note appears at the top: „Gerade hat jemand anderes an deiner Seite gearbeitet. Lade neu, damit du nichts überschreibst.“ (someone else has just been working on your page. Reload so you don't overwrite anything.) Then click „Neu laden“ (reload) before you carry on. In the new editor (beta), it says „An anderer Stelle geändert“ (changed elsewhere) in this spot.
It's most relaxed if you briefly agree on who is working on the page right now.
In the seating plan and the floor plan, on the other hand, you can happily work at the same time. Whatever the other person changes appears for you straight away, without reloading. Every seat assignment is saved on its own there: if you seat Anna and the other person seats Greta at the same moment, both stay seated.
If one of you enters a reply by hand, for example after a phone call, the Rückmeldungen (replies) page shows who it was: „von dir eingetragen“ (entered by you) or, for example, „von Anna eingetragen“ (entered by Anna).
When an account or the event is deleted
Only the person who manages the event can delete it. The person planning with you can no longer open it afterwards.
If you delete your account while someone is planning your event with you, the dialog shows you these events and offers „Erst übergeben“ (hand over first). Without a handover, the event is deleted as before, with all guest data.
If the person planning with you deletes their account, only their access ends. The event stays.
Limits at a glance
Exactly one second person can plan with you, and there is only ever one open invitation.
Accepting only works with the address the invitation was sent to.
An invitation is valid for 14 days from the last email and goes out three times at most.
One account can send at most 5 invitation emails in 24 hours, and one event can have at most 10 invitations in 30 days.
Frequently asked questions
Does planning together cost extra?
No. You can invite someone as soon as your event has been created, even before you unlock your page.
Can a third person plan along too, such as the best man or maid of honour?
Only one second person can plan with you at a time. If you'd like to invite someone else, first end the access of the person who is planning with you.
The invitation didn't arrive.
Ask the person to check their spam folder, and check whether the address is right. With „Erneut senden“ (send again) the email goes out once more. If the address is wrong, withdraw the invitation and invite the right one.
The page says „Diese Einladung gilt nicht mehr“ (this invitation is no longer valid).
Then the invitation was withdrawn or already used, or a newer email with a new link has arrived in the meantime. The best thing is for the person to use the button in the newest email or to ask you for a new invitation.
The page says „Diese Einladung ist abgelaufen“ (this invitation has expired).
An invitation expires after 14 days. Simply send it again under Einstellungen → Gemeinsam planen with „Erneut senden“.
The person already has an account, but with a different address.
Then withdraw the open invitation and invite them with exactly the address they sign in with.
Can the person planning with us delete our event or change the address?
No. Both stay with the person who manages the event, just like unlocking, renewing and deciding who plans along.
Can we swap roles?
Yes, with „Event übergeben“ (hand over event). After that, the other person manages the event and you keep planning along.
