Three details carry your whole birthday page: the Name des Geburtstagskinds (name of the birthday person), the Alter (age) and the Datum der Feier (date of the celebration). You keep them in one single place and they take effect in several places at once. That saves you the searching if something does change after all.
Where you change these details
Name of the birthday person: Einstellungen → Name des Geburtstagskinds (Settings)
Age: Einstellungen → Alter (optional), simply as a number, for example 30
Date of the celebration: Einstellungen → Datum der Feier
You already gave these details once when you created your event: in the Wer hat Geburtstag? (Whose birthday is it?) step with the name and date of birth, and in the Wann wird gefeiert? (When is the party?) step with the date. From the date of birth we automatically suggest the Saturday on or after the next birthday and calculate the age from it. You can freely change both at any time afterwards, in case you would rather celebrate on the Friday.
What changes on your page as a result
The age badge in the “Über mich” (About me) section shows something like “30. Geburtstag”. It only appears if the “Alter anzeigen” (Show age) toggle is on there and an age is saved in your settings.
Both countdowns, the one in the Hero and the separate Countdown section, count towards the date of the celebration. Without a date they stay empty.
The default texts in Hero, Anmeldung, Wunschliste and Gästebuch are filled with the name once when you create your page, for example “Was sich Laura wünscht” (What Laura would like).
Good to know: If you change the name or the age later, texts that have already been generated in the sections are not carried along automatically. In that case walk through Hero, Anmeldung and Wunschliste once and adjust them in the editor. The age badge and the countdowns, on the other hand, update themselves.
Frequently asked questions
I do not want to reveal my age.
Then simply leave the Alter (optional) field empty. The badge stays hidden and everything else works exactly as normal.
The date is not fixed yet. Can I still get started?
Yes, carry on designing at your own pace. Only the countdowns need a date, until then they show “Kein Datum festgelegt” (No date set). As soon as you enter the date, they start running right away.
I changed the date. Do my guests see that straight away?
Only if your page is already published. After that, one click on “Veröffentlichen” (Publish) is enough for the new version to go online.
