Editing your page on your phone

What works on phones and tablets, how the new editor lets you design on the go, and how to email yourself the editor link.

Written by Max Weber

You just had an idea for your page and only have your phone in hand? Then it depends on which editor you are working in. The current editor needs room for the sidebar and the live preview side by side, so it only feels at home from a screen width of about 1024 pixels. Our new editor, which is in beta right now, works on your phone as well.

Editing on your phone with the new editor

  1. Open the editor on your phone, for example via Webseite → Bearbeiten (website, edit). You first see the preview of your page and, at the bottom, the card „Bearbeitung nur am Computer möglich“ (editing only possible on a computer).

  2. Tap „Neuen Editor ausprobieren (Beta)“ (try the new editor) on the card.

  3. Now your preview sits at the top and a bar at the bottom with „Abschnitte“ (sections), „Design“, „Einstellungen“ (settings) and „Mehr“ (more). Tap a section and its settings open at the bottom.

The browser on your phone remembers your choice, so next time you start straight in the new editor. You can go back to the current one at any time via „Mehr“ → „Zum bisherigen Editor“ (to the current editor). What else the new editor can do is explained in the article „Try out the new editor“.

What else works on your phone

The menu item „Webseite“ (website) works fully on your phone. In the „Übersicht“ (overview) tab you see your status, your address with a copy button, your plan and a live preview of your page, and you can publish from there too. In the „Umschlag-Intro“ (envelope intro) tab you change the envelope, in the „Einstellungen“ (settings) tab the password protection and the RSVP deadline. The same page also shows you the way to designing: „Am Handy kannst du deine Seite mit unserem neuen Editor gestalten, er ist gerade in der Beta.“ (on your phone you can design your page with our new editor, it's in beta right now) with the link „Neuen Editor öffnen“ (open the new editor). Rather work on a computer? Then the button „Link per Mail schicken“ (send link by email) sends you the link for the current editor.

What you see in the current editor on your phone

If you open the current editor on a smaller screen, you get the complete preview of your page in full screen. So you can scroll through at your leisure and see how everything looks. At the bottom, the card „Bearbeitung nur am Computer möglich“ stays pinned. On it you find the link „Neuen Editor ausprobieren (Beta)“ and, if you have added more languages, the button „Übersetzungen bearbeiten“ (edit translations). At the very bottom of the card there is also „Support-Chat“, in case you have a question for us, and the links to legal notice, privacy policy and cookie settings.

Emailing the editor link to yourself

  1. Tap „Link an E-Mail senden“ (send link by email) on the card.

  2. The button changes to „Wird gesendet…“ (sending…) and then to „E-Mail gesendet ✓“ (email sent).

  3. Open the email on your computer. The link takes you straight into the editor, and to the right event.

The email goes to the address you signed up with. If „Bitte erst einloggen.“ (please log in first) appears, sign in quickly and try again. If you see „Senden fehlgeschlagen“ (sending failed), a second try usually does the trick. By the way, „Link per Mail schicken“ under Dashboard → Webseite sends exactly the same email, and in the new editor you find it under „Mehr“ → „Lieber am Computer weitermachen?“ (rather continue on a computer?).

Good to know: The current editor needs a screen wider than 1024 pixels. A tablet held upright therefore falls below it, and a smaller tablet sometimes does even in landscape. With a large tablet turned sideways or a laptop, the full editor is at your service. In the new editor, a tablet in landscape usually gets the computer view and in portrait the phone view.

Frequently asked questions

Sections are missing from the preview on my phone.
In the current editor, the preview only shows visible sections, just like your public page. In the new editor, by contrast, hidden sections appear pale with the note „Ausgeblendet“ (hidden), so that you can edit them.

Can I switch between my languages on my phone?
Yes. In the new editor you choose the language of the preview via „Ansicht“ (view) at the top right above the preview. In the current editor, tap „Übersetzungen bearbeiten“ (edit translations) on the card. It opens the page for your translations, and that page works on your phone too.

I just want to fix a typo quickly while I am out.
In the new editor you can do that right on your phone. In the current editor, send yourself the link by email, and back home you are in the right spot with two clicks.

Can I publish while I am out?
Yes. Open Dashboard → Webseite and tap „Veröffentlichen“ (publish) or „Aktualisieren“ (update) there. In the new editor, simply tap „Veröffentlichen“ at the top right. It even works from the sofa.
