Checking your design on a computer and on a phone

How to check both views in the preview, undo changes and get your design safely to your guests.

Written by Max Weber

Most of your guests open the invitation on their phone, but plenty of them on a computer too. So at the end of every design round it is worth a quick look at both views. It takes two minutes and saves you the question “does this look good for everyone?”.

Switching between desktop and mobile

In the top bar of the editor sits the “Desktop” and “Mobile” switch. Every design change takes effect in the preview immediately, you do not need to load anything extra. These are the things worth looking at:

  • Do long headings fit on one line, or do they break awkwardly? Script fonts need more room.

  • Is the body text still comfortable to read on a phone when set to “Light” or size S?

  • Are the buttons big enough to hit safely with a thumb?

  • Does the button label stand out clearly against the button color?

  • Do the sections you set off in color still feel right in that order?

Taking something back

Next to the switch you will find the arrows “Rückgängig (⌘Z)” (Undo) and “Wiederholen (⌘⇧Z)” (Redo). With those you can also take back a template switch or a color experiment that did not work out. It works as long as you have not reloaded the editor.

Saving and publishing

  1. Click “Speichern” (Save) at the top right. The button then shows “Gespeichert HH:MM” (Saved at). If it is greyed out, you have not changed anything that would need saving.

  2. Click “Veröffentlichen” (Publish) so that your guests see the new version. If that button is greyed out, everything is online already. You will find all the details in the article “Deine Seite veröffentlichen” (Publishing your page).

Designing itself is free and stays free. You only need Premium so that your page becomes publicly visible.

Good to know: The editor can only be operated on a computer. On phones and tablets you see the preview and the card “Bearbeitung nur am Computer möglich” (Editing is only possible on a computer). With the “Link an E-Mail senden” (Send link by email) button you send yourself the editor link and carry on comfortably at your laptop later.

Frequently asked questions

The colors on my live page look a little different from the preview.
That can happen if your palette and the text or button colors you set individually are far apart. On your published page the main color and the text color of the palette have the final say. There is more about it in the article “Die Farben deiner Seite festlegen” (Setting the colors of your page).

My changes are gone after reloading.
Then they had not been saved yet. After a round of designing, always click “Speichern” once before you close the tab.

Can I show my page to someone before publishing it?
The preview in the editor is just for you. The nicest way is to look at your screen together. The page only becomes publicly visible once you publish it.
