Deleting an event or your account

What happens when you delete a single event and when you delete your whole account, and how to do it safely.

Written by Max Weber

Sometimes something simply has to go: a test event you created to try things out, or your whole account. Both take just a few clicks. Because it is final, we ask you twice beforehand.

Deleting a single event

  1. Open Einstellungen → Allgemein (settings, general) and scroll all the way down to the „Gefahrenzone" (danger zone) outlined in red.

  2. Click „Event löschen" (delete event).

  3. The dialog „Event endgültig löschen?" (delete event for good?) shows you everything that goes with it. Type in the confirmation word shown there, only then does the button become active.

  4. Confirm. After that you land on „Meine Events" (my events) and choose your next active event there.

What gets deleted are the settings and content of this event, all guests and their replies, all guest book entries and all uploaded images. Your other events and your account stay untouched. The web address of this event becomes free again.

Deleting your whole account

  1. Open Einstellungen → Account (settings, account) and go all the way down to the „Gefahrenzone" (danger zone).

  2. Click „Account löschen" (delete account).

  3. The dialog „Account endgültig löschen?" (delete account for good?) lists what will be deleted: your user account including your profile picture, all events and event websites, all guest lists and replies, all guest book entries and all uploaded images.

  4. Type in the word LÖSCHEN (delete) and confirm. We sign you out and take you to the homepage.

Good to know: There is no recycle bin and no way to restore anything. Make a note of everything you still need beforehand, details from your guest list for example. And remember: „Account löschen" really does take all of your events with it. If you only want to get rid of one, use „Event löschen" in the tab „Allgemein".

Frequently asked questions

I have already bought Premium for this event. What happens to it?
Once you delete, the website is gone and the period does not carry on. Please drop us a quick message before you delete, then we will sort out your case together.

Does my web address become free again?
Yes. After deleting, the address can be taken again, by someone else too. If you want to keep it, better not delete the event.

I only want my website to stop being visible.
You do not have to delete anything for that. Your website can be taken offline again under Einstellungen → Subdomain (settings, subdomain), and your draft stays completely intact.

The delete button stays grey.
Then the confirmation word is not right yet. It has to read exactly as it does in the dialog.
