Deleting an event or your account

What disappears when you delete an event or your entire account, and how you confirm it on purpose.

Written by Max Weber

Sometimes an event was created twice, a test run is in the way or you really do want to end it all. That's possible, and because it can't be undone, we ask you twice beforehand.

Deleting a single event

  1. Open Einstellungen → Allgemein (Settings → General) and scroll all the way down to the red-bordered card „Gefahrenzone" (Danger zone).

  2. Click „Event löschen" (Delete event).

  3. In the dialog „Event endgültig löschen?" (Delete event permanently?), take your time reading what disappears: settings and content, guests and replies, guestbook entries and every uploaded image.

  4. Type the word LÖSCHEN (German for delete) into the field. Only then does the button become active.

  5. Confirm with „Event löschen". Afterwards you land back at Meine Events (My events).

Changed your mind? Then simply click „Abbrechen" (Cancel). Only this one event is deleted, your account and your other celebrations stay untouched.

Deleting your whole account

  1. Open Einstellungen → Account (Settings → Account) and go to the card „Gefahrenzone".

  2. Click „Account löschen" (Delete account) and read the dialog „Account endgültig löschen?" (Delete account permanently?).

  3. Type LÖSCHEN and confirm.

That removes your user account including your profile picture and all of your events with their guest lists, replies, guestbook entries and images. You'll be signed out automatically and land on the home page.

Good to know: A paid Premium expires along with the event or with the account. It can't be moved to another event and it isn't refunded. If you're unsure, it's better to write to us first at [email protected].

Gentler alternatives

  • Just take it off the web for a while: Under Einstellungen → Subdomain (Settings → Subdomain) you take your page out of public view with „Seite offline nehmen" (Take page offline). All content, guests and replies are kept and you can publish again at any time.

  • Just hide the page: With password protection, only guests who know the password can see your page.

  • Just start fresh: You can redesign your page completely in the editor without deleting the event.

Frequently asked questions

Can I restore a deleted event?
No, deleting is final. Even we can't bring the data back afterwards.

The delete button stays grey.
Then the word LÖSCHEN is still missing in the confirmation field. It has to be there exactly like that, and your input is capitalised automatically.

I only want to empty my guest list.
You don't need to delete anything for that. You remove individual guests directly under Gäste (Guests).
