Sometimes none of the ready-made sections fits. You would like to welcome your guests briefly right at the top, give a note about the dress code before the schedule, or simply say thank you at the end. That is exactly what „Freier Inhalt" (free content) is for: a blank page with a title, text, a photo and an optional button. You may put it on your website several times, in exactly the places where you need it.
How to add one
In the sidebar click „Abschnitt hinzufügen" (add section) or the + next to the heading „Abschnitte" (sections).
Choose the tile „Freier Inhalt" (free content).
The section lands on your website and is selected right away. It starts out empty on purpose, so at first you see a placeholder telling you that text and image are still missing.
If you want it in a particular spot, hover between two sections in the preview and click the small + circle. It then goes exactly there.
What you can set
Überschrift (heading)
Title and subtitle are optional. With the toggle „Titel anzeigen" (show title) you hide both, if the section looks nicer without a heading. The title also appears in the section list, more on that below.
Inhalt (content)
In the field „Text" you write freely whatever you would like to say. You can make text bold and italic, add lists and set links. Below that you upload an image or look for one in the stock photos.
Layout
With „Bild-Position" (image position) you decide where the photo sits: to the left of the text, to the right of it, above the text, or not at all. On a phone the image is always above the text, there is no room for two columns there.
Button
If you like, the section gets a button, for example to a calendar entry, a wish list or an email address. You give it a text and a link. Important: the link has to start with https:// or mailto:. If that is missing, we do not show the button to your guests, so that nobody clicks a broken link.
Farben (colors)
As with every section you can pick your own background, heading and text color further down under „Farben". That is a lovely way to set a free section apart from the rest.
Several free sections on one page
Unlike the other sections, „Freier Inhalt" can be added more than once. In the dialog its tile then says „Nochmal hinzufügen" (add another one) instead of „Bereits hinzugefügt" (already added). Every section has its own texts, its own image and its own button, they have nothing to do with each other.
Up to six free sections are possible, and copies count towards that. Once the sixth one exists, the tile in the dialog is disabled and carries the note „Mehr als 6 freie Abschnitte gehen nicht" (no more than 6 free sections).
Tip: Give every free section a title. In the section list, in the delete notice and in the translation view we then show that title. Without one they are all just called „Freier Inhalt", and then you mix them up quickly.
In other languages
If you set your website up in a second language, the title, subtitle, text and button text travel into the translation automatically. Image, link and layout stay as they are, they apply to every language. Each free section is translated separately, so two sections never get in each other's way.
Good to know: Your guests only see the new section after your next click on „Veröffentlichen" (publish).
Frequently asked questions
Can I copy a free section?
Yes. Open the three dot menu in the section list and choose „Duplizieren" (duplicate). The copy takes over text, image and button and sits directly below the original. Copies count towards the six as well: once the number is reached, „Duplizieren" is greyed out. You can duplicate most other sections too; only the hero, the sign-up, the gallery and the guest book exist exactly once per page.
My button is not showing on the page.
Check three things: is the toggle „Button anzeigen" (show button) on, is there a button text, and does the link start with https:// or mailto:? If one of those is missing, we leave the button out.
Why do I see the grey box saying „Hier steht noch kein Inhalt"?
The section has no text, no image and no button yet. As soon as you add one of them, the box disappears.
Why do I need this section when there is „Geschichte" and „Geschenke"?
Those sections follow a fixed pattern, „Geschichte" (your story) for instance a timeline. If you simply want a paragraph of text with a photo, „Freier Inhalt" is the building block for it.
